Eid Day 2:
I went over to Ammi’s place. It took a lot of effort to go over knowing that she won’t be around, pretty much the whole first day and night of Eid to muster up courage to go the next day. It felt strange not being able to greet her but visiting her at her final resting place and meeting the rest of my family made me feel better. I met Abu, my brother and bhabi (sister in law) and my nephew and niece. My bhabi is such a thoughtful person Masha’Allah. She did things for me that Ammi used to do on every single Eid.
She got presents for me and Saad including a dress for me and went through the effort of getting it stitched, got Saad’s favourite dishes made for Eid dinner as well as sheer khurma and that too using Ammi’s special recipe.
I swear I was missing Ammi’s sheer khurma so bad, I didn’t realize it until I saw it on the dining table…and this gesture just melted my heart. The sheer khurma didn’t taste as sweet as it did when Ammi was around but my bhabi’s sweet gestures made up for it. May Allah swt grant her and my family success in this life and the hereafter and increase our love for each other and keep us all together, Ameen.
