Nivea Labello Milk & Honey Soothing Lip Balm Review

Hello everyone!

If this is the first time you’re visiting my blog then…

and if you’re an old follower then thank you so much for sticking around!!

This detailed review is part of my top 5 favourite beauty products. There are specific things that I look for in beauty products, so you might want to check out my previous blog post to find out what they are. I’ve also reviewed OGX Argan Oil of Morocco and St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Gel Cleanser, which are awesome products so you might want to check those out too! ^_^

Disclaimer: If you’re wondering why I’ve mentioned Nivea and Labello in the title, it’s because in some countries Labello is marketed as a NIVEA lip care product rather than being separately branded. It’s the same formula and I’ve used both and seen both being sold in Karachi.

So that’s a little fun fact for you right there. I also came across this very interesting article about how Labello was the first brand to introduce the ever so popular metal sliding case that we now use so commonly for lipsticks, chapsticks, basically pretty much all stick products out there! Before they introduced this packaging, all lip products came in those annoying packages in which you have to dunk your fingers to get the product out…gross! There were also photos in that article which I found really interesting. And of course I’ll have to feature this one since I’m a graphic designer and have a soft spot for vintage posters. Here’s a poster from 1938:

Interesting…right? Okay! Okay! I admit! I got a little distracted and went off topic!

So without further ado, let’s get right into it…Nivea-or-Labello-Milk-&-Honey-Soothing-Lip-Balm-Review-4.jpgLabello Pure & Natural Milk & Honey pampers your lips with rich care. Provides long lasting moisture for your lips with shea butter and natural ingredients.

My thoughts:
I don’t think there’s anything more annoying than chapped lips. They just feel so icky! So in order to keep them from getting chapped so much I try to do these things on a regular basis:

  • keep myself hydrated by drinking lots of water;
  • exfoliate my lips after every few days gently with my fingertips after brushing by teeth (as my lips are moist at that point and hence easier to exfoliate);
  • And last but not the least, I use a lip balm to keep them soft and supple

I’ve been using Labello or Nivea (depending on whichever one is available at the grocery store at the moment) since years now. I’ve tried a couple of variants, including the strawberry shine one which I later found out had carmine in it so I stopped using it as that is a haram ingredient, in other words it is not permissible to use in Islam. I haven’t been able to find a better lip care product than this one so I’ve continued using this variant instead which is free of any such ingredients as per my knowledge.

I’ve already written a bit about the packaging earlier but in all honesty, I absolutely love it, it’s simple yet so beautiful (that’s the graphic designer in me talking…). I find it quite sturdy and practical also. It’s in a stick form so there’s no hygiene issue there as well.

It looks yellow in the stick but shows up clear on the lips. Thank God! Who would want yellow lips other than Simpsons? Honestly, the first time I saw it, it put me off a little bit BUT the fragrance is what drew me in. It has a very subtle scent which is really nice and soothing (it really does smell like honey). It also doesn’t linger on for too long after application and now I don’t even care about the colour because of how well it works for me.

This lip balm lasts a long time. I’ve been using it for almost a year now and it’s no where near finished. I keep it at hand at all times, in my handbag and on my night stand as well. I apply it pretty much every night before going to bed or whenever I feel like my lips are getting parched (that happens more during winters) and leaves them soft and supple.

  • True to what it claims
  • Lasts a long time (quantity wise, I don’t see it finishing before the expiry date =P)
  • Very comfortable on the lips, doesn’t feel tacky or anything like that
  • Doesn’t contain any haram ingredients (as per my knowledge) and isn’t tested on animals

  • I can’t try all variants because of certain ingredients like Carmine

Will I recommend this product to a friend?
Yes, all in all this Nivea Labello Honey and Milk Soothing Lip Balm really works for me and I’d surely recommend this product to a friend,

How much does it cost and where is it available?:
It costs around Rs.300. It’s available on as well and is also available at various stores throughout Karachi like EBCO, Naheed, Ami’s, Hyperstar, etc.

I hope you found this review helpful. If you have any queries, comments or suggestions regarding this product or my blog, please feel free to let me know in the comments below! Thanks for reading! ^_^
